Last week I went to the big library near me for a free talk they were having on archaeology. The person that was giving the talk is a professor from UNCC. I have always found stuff like this interesting, and now my interest in doing some online/distance learning includes this subject. While I was there I also signed up for a couple more talks they are going have. I guess I do alot of things that don't cost much, or very little. Besides clipping coupons(one of my favorite things), I often get lots of other freebies, including a movie ticket that I just realized that I have to use before the end of the month. What a disappointment for me when I realized that Van Hesling doesn't open until May.
It's been nearly two weeks since the ankle injury and I am getting better, but I am still swelling by evening. The big dog who lost about 5 lbs. on the new diet has probably gained it all back. It's funny, but for the last few days I have just felt like staying home and cleaning the house, and now people are coming out of the woodwork to do things. It seems to go this way. I'm zigging while everybody else is zagging. Which reminds me when I was in high school, one of my favorite comics was Ziggy. Later, I loved the Far Side humor, but I have never understood Calvin and Hobbes. Strange.

I had a weird dream last night, and it seems to be haunting me today.

My kitty is a sweet sixteen donut addict (powdered sugar).
This is not related to above dream.

I had plans for a wonderful visit with the little niece from Florida. Yesterday, we went out to to eat, colored Easter eggs, blew gazillions of bubbles with her new bubble machine. Today, we went out to eat and then she waited in the hospital emergency room parking lot for me. I woke up to the sound of the garbage sanitation truck this morning. I stepped out my front door and that is when my ankle failed me. My leg bent horizontally to the ankle and I ended up spread eagle on my tiny front lawn. When I finally could sit up I knew that the garbage man/sanitation worker could see me. Not a hey are you okay, you need some help, nothing. Maybe during his typical day it's commonplace to see a woman in her early morning gear spread eagle on her front lawn, I'm just happy that guy with big black lab wasn't walking by this time. By early afternoon I took up the offer for a ride to the hospital. It's not broken, but the doctor said I did have a chip on the bone, which may possibly have been there from a previous fall. Their main concern seemed to be the swelling, and I am suposed to use the crutches and the air cast that they gave me. I tried bringing the dogs out when I got home and the scenerio would almost be laughable, if it wasn't so painful.

Just to elaborate a little on the scenerio. Me on crutches, little dog that I am trying to walk terrified of crutches and is pulling away from me. Little dog is pulling so hard that she pulls herself out of her collar. I scream while trying to strain to reach her without losing my balance. I drop the crutches and drop to the ground, and grab the little dog by its back end. Little dog screeches in pain. I slide collar back on and pull little dog back in house.
Next, I walk big dog.

Mortified. I will have to explain this later...

My parents will be driving halfway to Orlando today to meet the little niece's parents who will also be driving halfway so the little niece can spend the next week in town for a visit. The day before I even knew she was coming I bought her a bubble machine. Yeah, it's really a fancy bubbles and wand, but I still I can't wait to open it for her. I also spent last Saturday morning at the grand opening of a new dollar store. You can find alot of things for a 3 year old there . I am also gettting a few days off of work, so I can spend a little time with her too, though, I still have to work on Friday, the 16th, my birthday.

Dog Park
When you have dogs and don't have a yard to let them run in, you usually get alot of excercise walking them, and also everyone seems to know your name. I walk so often in the circly area in my complex, it seems I know alot more of what's going on here than my other neighbors without dogs. On my days off I sometimes take the dogs walking along the park greenways. It is a welcome change from the monotony of walking in a circle. Last week someone came into my work and was talking about a dog park. It costs $35 a year, and you can take your dogs there and let them run off the leash. I am taking the big lumpy dog to have her staples removed (from her surgery), and my vet is not too far from one of the dog parks. We might just have to go down and see what it looks like. Unfortunately, I might have to wait a month before I can join because big lumpy girls surgery has really set me back, and I do like to eat regularly.
