People I'd like to thank today: The asian man at the dry cleaners who let me use his phone 3 different times to call to see why my roadside assistance hadn't arrived. It was more than 2 hrs. after the posted time on the the door, and he was still working. Doing the math, I figured he just put in a 12 hr.+ day, but he still offered to put a spare tire on my car. The attractive 30 something guy who lives around the corner who helped me attach the air pump to my tire, while he was holding his big black lab, that my little dog hates. I really mean it, I have never seen anything like it. Now I know that he doesn't hold it against me that we create a scene when we are walking our dogs at the same time. Also in the nice try category, my neighbor who attached her bicycle pump to my tire in the attempt to pump it back up. The fellas at Goodyear who let me use their phone to call roadside assistance the first time, and finally the young black man who was sent out by roadside assistance, unaware of the saga that had been unfolding for almost 4 hrs.. He was so nice, I just couldn't take out my upsetment on him.

P.S. I am on vacation for a few days, so it shouldn't be any surprise that I had car trouble, but somehow it was.
So much for the shoes I was going to get at Kohl's, the little girl outfits I was going to look at for my nieces upcoming 3rd birthday. The DVD's and the Jack Skellington doll I was going look at in Media Play.
Tomorrow is another day

This is really Alison who works with me story. I was sitting next to her when a European woman and her little girl who is about nine and came up to the desk. The girl is quite fluent with her english, unlike her mother. When she looked at what her mom was getting and said," what the ffff",and then stopped short. She then said, "I almost forgot, I'm not allowed to use the F word anymore".
We were so grateful.

This afternoon while I was sitting at the front desk, I looked up from the computer and was startled. A man stood in front of me his arms completely outstretched toward my face holding a box turtle. The man said in somewhat broken english that he found it in the street," can we call, can we call someone for it". Instead I motioned the man to follow me, and I led the man to an place behind my work where we have a natural area. I thanked him, and he thanked me. Sometimes things like this make your day.

I watched my first DVD movie on my new combo VCR/DVD player today. The movie I watched was the "The Dish", it's about the satellite dish that NASA used during the Apollo 11 moonwalk. I just love watching movies about the Apollo missions. I highly recommend these movies, "Apollo 13" and "The Right Stuff". I think I'm really going to like this DVD player, I've been having lots of fun trying to figure out all the extra features. The movie "Bottle Rocket" should be arriving for me soon, it has both Luke and Owen Wilson in it. I can't decide which Wilson brother I like the most. A new addition to my favorite things list, my new DVD player, with added bonus of favorite words I haven't used in a long time. Now together in a sentence for the first time. I put a circly thing in my DVD player.

I am reading a book called "Ten Little Indians" it is a collection of stories by Sherman Alexie, a Spokane Indian. The first story in the book is about a Spokane Indian college student who comes across a book of poems in the college library written by another Spokane Indian thirty years earlier, and then sets out to find out who this poet is.

When I was about nine our family took a trip from where I lived in New York to Spokane, Washington. My father's brother and his wife lived there with their two children, a girl K, who is a little younger than me, and a little boy C ,who was about two. It was my first plane ride. I can remember the night before the trip not being able to sleep. I think it was more the excitment, than being nervous of my first plane trip. Here are some of the things I remember about the trip: Going to see the Grand Coulee Dam, swimming in a big lake with a slide in the middle of it, eating spaghetti at a fancy restaurant in Cour d' Alene, Idaho, going to a outdoor rodeo, that had a animal on a spit that people later ate, snow in July that came off the mountain, picking strawberries, going to a haunted house(they wouldn't let me and my cousin K go thru with the lights out, we had to go thru with the lights on), seeing a falling star, visiting my uncle at the air base and seeing his plane/jet, my cousin K crying when she found out that my parents decided to take the train home instead of the plane, and that her playmate would be leaving a few days earlier than she thought, singing say-say oh playmate with my cousin K,and of course the remarkable train ride home.

Sherman Alexie also wrote the screenplay for the movie, Smoke Signals.

Just getting in from my evening walk. The only visible celestial body is Mars. I wish I had some binoculars or a telescope.

Sunday morning I received my Real Yellow Pages, accompanying it this year is a mini Yellow Pages. It is fat and Readers Digest sized. On the front of the mini-pages it says "Do Not Use While Driving A Motor Vehicle". Just thought I'd let you know.
